The Noble Lord observed, that the petition deserved serious. attention, as it came from one who must be acknowledged to be a very ardent searcher after truth, eveu if he were not right. The petition pray d for a revision of the laws, on the ground of their being founded on the belief that the plague depended on contagion-a doctrine which many eminent physicians regarded as founded in prejudice and ignorance.
