  • Descrição: Beadwork took center stage in the exhibition 'Beads, Body, and Soul: Art and Light in the Yoruba Universe,' which was held at the UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History from Jan 25 to Jul 19, 1998. The exhibition pays tribute to African beadwork as an art of potent symbols that express personal identity, spirituality, wealth, authority and royalty. The show also categorized, defined and translated the traditional spiritual language found in the beadwork of the Yoruba tribe of southwest Nigeria.
