  • Descrição: Departing from a practical case, this chapter poses critical questions regarding the normative frameworks within which elite sports leaders operate. Three such frameworks are identified: Elite sports face expectations on fair play, expectations on entertainment value and expectations on identity construction. Situations are discussed in which elite sports leaders must deal with conflicts between normative expectations, some of which take the form of ethical dilemmas. Strategies are proposed on how to handle normative conflicts and ethical dilemmas in sound ways. In conclusion, it is argued that capabilities of sound normative and ethical judgement and decision-making are underestimated in the education and practice of elite sports leaders.
