  • Descrição: This article examines the role of sociologists as public intellectuals. The author discusses the role of the media in disseminating sociological knowledge and the impediments to using it for serious sociological commentary. There are many persuasive reasons why sociology and sociologists should use the language and the medium of the average person and engage in framing the controversies and issues of our time.
