  • Descrição: The type of styrene derivative monomers employed has a strong influence on the morphology and bulk properties of free radical-synthesized PDMS-styrene derivative block polymers. Depending on the nature of the monomer, the rubbery region (the region between two T sub g s) is changed. According to DMA results, the type of monomer has a smaller effect on domain mixing. However, interphase mixing is strongly affected by the monomer used. The changes in the phase mixing in these systems are due to the changes in thermodynamic compatibility between two different blocks, i.e. difference in solubility parameters. As the morphology and degree of phase mixing change, the mechanical properties are changed accordingly. , . 5 ref.--AA
