  • Descrição: The activities of SCG's Building Materials division are discussed. With a production capacity of 150 million m2/year and a 2012 output of 136 million m2, SCG (Siam Cement Group) has confirmed its position as the world's largest ceramic tile producer by volume. It operates 22 factories (17 in Thailand, 4 in Indonesia and 1 in the Philippines) and has a workforce of about 7300. SCG's position and extent of internationalisation within the ASEAN bloc has been reinforced by its acquisition of the Prime Group, a leading Vietnamese producer. The tile business is a major part of the SCG Building Materials division, which also produces sanitaryware and fittings, roofing materials and wall products. The Group's goal is to achieve higher market coverage and brand awareness for its high-end Cotto tile brand outside the ASEAN region (where SCG is already market leader), especially in Western markets.
