  • Descrição: In several European countries there have been elaborated programmes of noble hardwood preservation. The wild peartree also belongs among these rare and valuable woody plants. Part of this network of programmes is not only registration and evaluation of the noble hardwoods, but also reproduction of their most valuable genotypes. The work presents the results of growth evaluation of the wild pear progenies, which were collected at nine localities in different regions of Slovakia. The objective was to compare the height growth of wild pear progenies of different provenance and to verify the influence of progenz origin, altitude of a locality and characteristics of mother trees on progeny growth. The results obtained confirmed the significant influence of the progeny origin on their growth abilities and the adverse effect of seed transfer from higher altitudes (above 500 m) to the experimental plot at the altitude of 420 m on the height growth of seedlings
