Descrição: A friend who had started there with me on the first step of his career in obstetrics had put his head round Üre door to see how we were, and just seconds later he found himself on extremely intimate terms with my wife as he freed the cord from around Katys neck and proceeded to deliver her. How must it feel to be told your child has a heart murmur, or a chromosomal abnormality? I do not believe that any other single moment in my entire medical career taught me so much about why parents behave the way they do. In an attempt to make my room child-friendly, I have always had a selection of colourful childrens posters on the walls, and a selection of toys (silent, of course) as well as a pile of childrens books.
