  • Descrição: Though sandwiched between earthquakes and riots, the Materials Research Society's (MRS) spring meeting in San Francisco went on as scheduled. And when not following northern California's turmoil on TV, the more than 2400 attendees focused their attention on 27 symposia that addressed a wide range of topics, including superconductivity, corrosion-fighting polymers, smart materials, fullerenes, and materials issues in art and archeology. A few highlights follow.
