  • Descrição: Electrostatic charging of an electrically insulated metal body streamlined by a plasma flow is investigated theoretically. The physical processes occurring in the vicinity of the body are considered. The electric currents resulting in the charging or discharging of the body are determined. The electric charge Q ( t ), electric field E ( t ), and potential φ( t ) of a metal sphere are estimated taking into account the adopted conditions and parameters of the problem. The physical phenomena that take place in the vicinity of a charged body after Q ( t ) reaches a certain threshold value are discussed. The obtained values of Q ( t ), E ( t ), and φ( t ) are compared with the corresponding values for a body streamlined by an atmospheric air flow.
