  • Descrição: The wave of female writers who have appeared in French crime writing since the early 1990s has raised a new set of issues concerning both the public perception of the writers and the authors' own approach to their work. Examines the history of women authors in French crime writing, how they perceive themselves as authors and their role as women in the field of crime writing, and how they are themselves perceived by the media and by publishers. Considers ways in which the gender of writers may affect narrative and characterization. Based on interviews conducted by the writer in 2000, as well as interviews given to the French press.
