  • Descrição: Discusses meanings and significance of the Israeli tradition of publishing commemorative booklets in honour of individual fallen soldiers. Combining private mourning with public celebration, they also constitute folk historiography and can be seen to have roots in the Yizkor or communal histories of 13c Germany and later. As collective memory their focus is on western Zionist and secular experience; the Sephardim of the Yishuv are forgotten in these texts.
