  • Descrição: Medicare is expected to be a primary social issue on the Democratic party's presidential election campaign. The issue feeds into the political allegation that Republicans want to cut taxes to the rich and cut benefits for the elderly. Medicare replaces health care reform at large, which was the central campaign issue for Bill Clinton in 1992. The focus on the issue could disadvantage Republicans.
