  • Descrição: Ukraine does not have a written record of its experienced past which international scholarly and political communities would accept. Modern historians have thus tried to classify Ukraine as a nation in search of its roots. Before 1914, eastern and central European states such as Ukraine were subject to the empires of the Romanovs, the Hohenzollerns and the Habsburgs. After their disintegration, Ukraine was put under USSR's jurisdiction. However, with sovereignty for nations such as Ukraine a realizable reality, Ukrainian leaders are now attempting to reassert the nation's historicity.
