  • Descrição: Based on personal experience in 1984/85 the intercultural dimension of the South African dilemma is broadly outlined & discussed. Intercultural communication needs are viewed as fundamental for promotion & sustaining positive structural changes that will emerge postapartheid. By reviewing events in South Africa & summarizing a recent South African study emphasizing the intercultural needs, a readiness for addressing the issue is posited & it is asserted that intercultural communicators do not have the option of "disinvesting" in South Africa. Two programs in South Africa addressing the intercultural needs agenda are briefly reviewed. 1 Appendix, 13 References. HA
