  • Descrição: Its hydrocarbon reserves and the people's apathy toward the absence of free expression or political choice have made Central Asia a likely target for speculators and foreign investors. Composed of Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, Central Asia, however, has been ill-prepared for independence culturally, materially and psychologically. Central Asia's local elites are expected to readily adapt to the presence of foreign predominance, even that from the Russians.
