  • Descripción: The textile sector, in the development of its productive activities, causes impacts to the environmental health, and the lack of specific indicators to measure them makes the social and environmental planning difficult. However, Agenda 21, Global Compact, ISO 14000 series and Brazilian legislation mention the importance of the sustainable development indicators for economic activities to create social and environmental policies. A group of sustainable development indicators was built, using Delphi method, for the textile sector with the participation of 45 stakeholders. As the criteria to select the stakeholders didn\2019t include the knowledge of indicators, but having professional performance in the textile area and/or on the social environmental area then was set the goal of validate the indicators. A meeting was made with 15 stakeholders that analyzed each one of the 92 indicators as the basic criteria of their choice. After the meeting a lista of 26 approved indicators was counted (9 were economic, 12 were social and 5 were environmental). This meeting was an opportunity for debates among the present stakeholders, showing the conflicts that existed between the parties, their interests, their culture and knowledge, and enabled the observation and also the position of each participant facing the decisions taken in group. The need to redefine the way to measure 27 indicators was shown in the meeting. It is suggested, therefore, the elaboration of each indicator\2019s
    methodological file so that the files with the proposed measurement to the textile sector help environmental planning to the sector
