Descrição:
In the fall of 2000, seventy-three-year-old Louise Bell contacted a lawyer. Bell informed the lawyer that she had injured her knee in a car accident the previous year. Her doctor prescribed a pain medication called Vioxx, a drug that had been used by over twenty million people. Shortly after she began taking the drug, however, her blood pressure skyrocketed. Her coworkers began asking her, “Louise, what’s wrong with you? You’re beet red.”¹ Eight months after the accident, Bell experienced a severe headache and suffered a seizure. Her cardiologist attributed her seizure to high blood pressure and blamed the drug Vioxx.
