  • Descrição: The acoustic emission arising during an athermal martensite (explosive) type of transformation has been studied in an Fe alloy contg. Ni 32.7 and C 0.01%. A model of dislocation assemblies is used to interpret the results obtained. It is shown that two types of emision can occur in the course of a martensite transformation: one is connected with the emergence of martensite crystals at the surface and the other with their arrest by obstacles. The acoustic-emission method makes it possible to reveal features of the martensite transformation that are difficult to observe by other means. 15 ref.--N.V.
