  • Descrição: In this multi-part article, the author discusses the medical marijuana industry and the banking and financial services sector The first part of the article, which appeared in the February 2016 issue of The Banking Law Journal, provided an overview of federal laws pertaining to marijuana and a history of the movement that has led some states to legalize medical marijuana. The second part, which appeared in the March 2016 issue of The Banking Law Journal, discussed the conflicts between state and federal marijuana laws and the federal banking and financial services laws that impact the legal marijuana industry. This final part explores certain attempts that have been made to find a solution to the marijuana banking problem, and measures that are needed to resolve or work around the barriers to obtaining banking services.
