Descrição: Discusses the excavation of a goldminer in 1983 in the Cromwell Gorge in Otago, New Zealand as part of the Clutha Valley Development Project. Notes that the skeleton was subjected to the latest bioarchaeological and archaeological technology and the results are recorded in this paper. States that the material culture and manner of burial were typical of the 19th century goldfields context. Hints that there was a darker, seamier side to goldfield life.
