PART II - CONSEQUENCES - provides (3) Patterns, Problems, and Payoffs for Women -- describes strategies US women have used to balance home & work obligations & evaluates the impact of employment on their well-being; (4) Implications for Marriages, Families, and Children -- examines the implcations of maternal employment for families & the impact on child care, household division of labor, & marital relationships; & (5) Implications for Employers, Unions, and Governments -- documents the changing composition of the labor force & family as a work place issue, & notes responses to maternal needs by government, business & labor unions.
