Descrição: For young people, educational performance has a fundamental effect on employment prospects, & thus, on their economic position in society. In examining social inequality, it is essential to establish the role of education in facilitating employment. Structural factors such as the changing economic & industrial situation as well as changes in education policy over the past 50 years have contributed to the dynamic nature of British youth transitions. Examined here are the relationship between educational qualifications & employment outcomes & how this relationship has changed over time, drawing on retrospective longitudinal data from the British Household Panel Survey.
