  • Descrição: Abandoned construction projects are one of the most common problems in the Malaysian construction industry that will affect society, the environment, and the economy. Several causes and effects for the abandoned construction project have been discussed from previous research in general. However, to develop guidelines in reviving abandoned construction projects, all the information related to planning must be considered. This study identifies the difficulties and countermeasures in reviving abandoned construction projects based on rescue contractors’ perspectives. A semi-structured interview approach has been used to get information from industrial practitioners, including managers, engineers, safety & health officer, and site supervisor. There are six difficulties in reviving abandoned construction projects. The issues are 1) material; 2) structure; 3) architecture; 4) safety; 5) internal, and 6) mechanical issues. All difficulties can be categorized into internal projects and external projects. This paper contributes to future improvement to related parties in reviving abandoned construction projects. Minimizing abandoned construction projects ensures sustainable economic development of nations.
