Descrição: Modelling the die compaction process for powders offers industry a tool to assist in reducing the time to introduce new parts. To date, compaction modelling has largely been based in universities and other research providers. AEA Technology and the University of Wales, Swansea are working together with four industrial partners to implement an approach to compaction modelling in industry. This involves use of an instrumented die to generate input data and a PC based compaction model. The research partners are working alongside the industrial partners to provide training and advice on the use of the instrumented die and compaction model. The project is supported by the UK Department of Trade and Industry through its Materials Metrology programme and runs to June 2005.
