Descrição: As language is still one of the main concerns of African nations, this paper aims to revisit the debate of the Kenyan Ngugi and the Nigerian Chinua Achebe regarding the use of Europeans languages in African Literatures. Thus, it also comes to terms with the political role of language and literature as a tool of liberation as well as the political role of African writers.
Considerando a questão linguística uma das principais preocupações no continente africano, neste ensaio pretende-se reconsiderar o debate promovido por Chinua Achebe e Ngugi Wa Thiong’O acerca do uso das línguas europeias na escritura das literaturas africanas. Posto assim, também consideraremos o papel político do escritor, bem como o lugar da literatura como instrumento de transformação social.
