  • Descrição: In China, the environmental education is included in the curriculum called “common knowledge of natural studies”. “Common Knowledge of Natural studies” was formed to educate children to develop their knowledge and understanding, of natural sciences at the fourth and the fifth grades of the elementary schools. It contains many subjects such as the natural environment around us, water circulation in the nature, and useful and injurious insects in which an ecological viewpoint, the importance of conservation and the fear of a public nuisance are stressed. However, comparing the new textbooks with the old ones, the content concerning with the environmental matters is found to be decreased in the new ones. Chinese are supposed to continue develop their nation on the ground of socialism, consequently, the authors recommend to put much more emphasis on environmental education in China.
