  • Descrição: We present an overview on how the ALADIN model version, operated by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, has been upgraded to the convection permitting resolution of 2.325 km together with the implementation of the non-hydrostatic, fully elastic dynamical core. We shortly describe all the necessary steps of the upgrade starting with the domain definition adaptations including relevant topographic characteristics and going through the new settings of the forecasting model including the dynamical core and physics' parametrizations. We also mention changes in the data assimilation algorithms. Finally, we discuss results of the new model version in comparison with the previous operational model version at the resolution of 4.711 km, and we show some new model outputs linked to the high resolution like the simulated radar reflectivity. Main directions of future research and model developments are given at the end.
