  • Descrição: The study focuses on Teiranes’s staters with the designation of the release date ΓΞΦ. The problem is that there is not yet a single point of view about their date. We believe that the mint that produced these staters should also be localized. What is important is that their quality is poorer compared to other billon series of Bosporan coinage of 563 BE. In the course of the study, it was found that a pair of stamps were used in the process of their manufacture, and the stamp for the obverse survived four modifications. Hence, Teiranes’s stater emission of this variety was abundant. The very fact of multiple amendments introduced to the minting of the obverse side, while retaining the designation ΓΞΦ on the reverse, convincingly testifies in favor of dating the coins under study by 563 BE. Otherwise, the error would have been corrected. We believe that Teiranes’s staters of the studied variety were issued in Panticapaeum. Judging by the fact that they have no differents. His mint produced low-grade coins to finance the court and troops of the newly-minted sovereign. It is quite possible that, in 563 BE,  Panticapaeum became the center of the appanage inherited by Teiranes, who ascended the Bosporus throne for the first time.
