  • Descrição: Visiting religious places in India is common. Many of us frequently visit temples, mosques, churches, gurudwara, & other religious places. Due to the belief that divine energy is present in these places, we keep ourselves & these places clean. Hence, we remove our footwears outside these religious places. Generally, footwear storage systems are made available outside these religious places. These footwear storage racks are not designed ergonomically. Rather these are non-engineered products with anybody having any size of footwear storage compartment, level of the compartment from the ground, etc. There are also different methods followed for placing & retrieving footwears. Also, the footwear handling charges, mostly in the form of cash transactions, are taken from visitors. In this research work, a review of different methods of storing & retrieving footwears from the footwear storage racks is taken. These methods are considered for study regarding ergonomics & unhygienic issues arising out of storage-retrieval of footwears & transactions. Ergonomic analysis of one of the methods of storage & retrieval of footwears from the rack is done using a software tool provided by The Ergonomics Centre of North Carolina. It is seen that in this case “Investigation & Changes” are required soon. A new footwear storage rack system is proposed to reduce these issues. The proposed system nearly resolves both of these issues.
