  • Descrição: A discussion of the interdependence of sociol & anthrop re the object of their interests. Both disciplines are considered to have the same object of study, but they are diff in their approaches. Both are interested in society as a whole, but a sociol'st studies his society, while an anthrop'st studies archair societies. Anthrop is seen as a general soc sci, sociol being only a 'soc aspect' of it; therefore, anthrop is a kind of a synthetic soc sci. The main diff between them is in methodology: anthrop uses direct methods in investigating a given society, while sociol uses indirect sources. Anthrop has to study only 'primitive' societies & sociol developed ones. In that way, the necessary DofL in the soc sci's will be carried out. So the role of anthrop is, first of all, to collect data directly from `Primitive' societies, to enable sociol to explain society in its more developed forms. An integral soc sci should combine sociol, soc psychol, anthrop, & ethnology. B. Pesic.
