  • Descrição: As it is known, in the early Christian era there were close ties between the Chersonesus and the Georgian churches, as a number of historical written sources indicate it. In this article, we consider the architectural features of Chersonesus cross-shaped churches and some monuments of Georgian medieval architecture. As the analysis of these samples shows, in the evolution of religious architecture in both regions many common features can be found. All examples of the architecture of the Crimea, discussed below, were found on the Chersonesus site and its surroundings as a result of archaeological excavations. As A. Yakobson notes, in Chersonese there were preserved 6 early Christian churches in the shape of Greek cross. The subject of our interest is the architectural and typological features of these buildings, which, in our opinion, have much in common with similar churches in medieval Georgia.
