Descrição: The handbook represents an effort to update the knowledge in the field by making an all-inclusive attempt at gathering the major findings of our discipline as well as the theories and the schools of thought that have developed over the years. I encouraged contributors to be as taxonomically broad as possible, with the idea that such a broad base is one of the main strengths of our discipline. Consequently, this handbook offers an exhaustive coverage of cognition, behavior, learning, and physiology—all packaged and presented under the umbrella of evolutionary theory. It combines classical findings with the current and new directions in the field, and in doing so, it attempts to correct as much as possible the inevitable decalage that occurs between what is published in journals and what is included in textbooks.
