  • Descrição: Attempts to identify the concept of state abolition within Western philosophy & contextualize it within modern political thought. State abolition is shown to be rooted in Marxist theory, but this direction in political thinking is traced in the debates over public & private discussed by Plato & Aristotle, & then by John Locke & Jean Jacques Rousseau. Concepts of the social contract, state apparatus, & humans in the state of nature are considered. It is suggested that abolition of the state is a root component of liberalism.
