  • Descrição: Durant presents the study by Himmelstein et al that focuses on the potential association of wealth redistribution with longevity. As wealth inequality has grown rapidly and persisted in the US, many studies have examined the consequences of the concentration of larger proportions of monetary resources among increasingly small numbers of people at the top of the wealth scale. Amid public calls for wealth redistribution as a far-reaching approach to address inequities on multiple fronts, such as health care and public health, policymakers need corresponding empirical data on the multiple potential individual-level and population-level health benefits of economic redistributive efforts.
