Descrição: Since 1996, the unemployed who have adopted the name of piqueteros have become a new & particularly perturbing actor on the Argentinean political scene. This article examines the conditions that have brought about the constitution of the unemployed into organizations. The first part analyzes the principal currents of the piquetero movement, its different political & ideological matrices, the relationships it establishes with the State & the institutionalization of social programs. The second part studies the common elements that constitute the piquetero space. Finally, the article assesses the current difficulties of the movement. 30 References.
