  • Descrição: Curtius was a German intellectual of the early 20th century who advocated cosmopolitanism and disdained nationalism, especially the extremist form which was Nazism. He also rejected the depersonalizing form of internationalism. He was among the few German intellectuals in a country whose dictatorial regime was not conducive to the growth of an intellectual movement. Curtius has close contact with the influential French thinkers of his time such as Andre Gide.
