Descrição: This paper provides the first identification of the text on an Anglo-Saxon parchment strip found in an English Renaissance book in the Folger Library in Washington, DC, recognizing it as a passage from the Old English version of the Gospel of Mark. Combining logical, philological, palaeographical, and codicological analysis it seeks to reconstruct the text and the original size of the fragment's carrier codex, places this witness within the spectrum of the surviving manuscripts of this text, and speculates on the context of the book's reuse in the sixteenth century.
