  • Descrição: This review is devoted to the monograph by Asen Kozhukharov, Doctor of Military Sciences, Head of the Naval Tactics Department of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy (Bulgaria). His area of interest is the history of the Bulgarian Navy. The book is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the creation of the Naval School, which laid the foundation of Bulgarian naval education. Documents received by graduates of institutions related to the personnel training system of the navy were analyzed. The documents were obtained from archival funds and personal collections and cover the period 1892–1946. Based on a number of factors (both related to the design and content of the documents), the author created his own typology of the issued documents. He pointed out the factors that influenced the changes in the documents and in the educational system as a whole. The book substantiates the significance of this type of historical document. They allow not only the study of the education system in Bulgaria at a specified time, but also provide information about graduates and teachers. Also, by using these documents, there is an opportunity to identify forgeries.
